The Yurok Guardianship Program was created to respond to and improve the handling of guardianship cases in the Yurok Tribal Court.
Types of Guardianships
- Adult Guardianships: Established to uphold the cultural mandate of caring for our elders and vulnerable adults.
- Family Law Guardianships: May be granted when necessary or convenient, and in the best interest of a Yurok child.
Program Services
- Court Investigative Workers provide direct support and referrals for both Family Law and Adult Guardianship cases.
- Families receive an initial home visit and are seen at least every six months.
- Emergency services may be available for families in Tribal Court who are at imminent risk of harm or neglect, including:
- Food
- Clothing
- Shelter
- Transportation
